December Wrap-Up

Hello Book Owls,

This month I read 10 books, yes 10! I’m so excited that I got so many books read this month even with the holidays and being super busy. So many good books lets dig in…

32796253Rating – 3

This book was good, but it also had its issues. It is about being a final girl, the only survivor after a huge massacre. you follow a girl 10 years after still dealing with those issues and not being able to remember things that happen that night. I enjoy this book, but it unloaded so much information in the last 50 pages that should have been spread out a bit better to me.

  • Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris (Spoilers) Full Review

51ms72awQiL._SX328_BO1,204,203,200_Rating – 4

This one dealt with verbal and emotional abuse, it was a quick and really good read. I loved the writing and overall story. It does have quite a few triggers that are listed in my review, but the review does have spoilers.  Behind Closed Doors was a great thriller that kept me on my toes wanting more. I finished this read in one sitting and I can’t wait to pick up her other books.

b72ae5_594ff4ee5b8847fbbe48836de3445ccfmv2_d_1800_2700_s_2Rating – 3.5

This novel was majorly out of my comfort zone, as I do not read any books that deal with politics. I was really curious as to the plot once I had more information on it. Can a celebrity with no experience in the political world be taken seriously or much less actually make it.Overall this was an okay novel for me, I gave 3.5 because while it was a good novel, it just wasn’t as thrilling as I would have hoped for.

23295136Rating – 4

This novel was just what I wanted it to be, a quick and dirty read. It was just that and more. I didn’t really know what to expect from this because I have never read any of Meghan March’s work before and honestly I’m blown away by it.  It was a very sexy read, I did have a few issues with the book that you can read in my review, but it was overall really good.

  • Zenith by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings Full Review

33843448Rating – 5

I love Sasha’s booktube channel and I’ve had Lindsay’s books on my TBR forever, so this was a no-brainer whether or not to pick up. It deals with space pirates like if that alone doesn’t get you I don’t know what will. The premise of the novel sounded so amazing and when I got approved for an e-arc, I screamed like a small child getting candy. I enjoyed this book so much and I can’t wait till I can get a finished copy on Jan. 16th.

21886057._SY540_Rating – 5

I enjoyed this one much better than the first one. The pacing was good and the writing was even better. I think this book gave more depth to the characters than the first book did. It does get a little more graphic with the sex scenes but was a great smutty read. Meghan March does not disappoint at all with these books and I enjoyed this series so much.

  • Afterlife of Holly Chase by Cynthia Hand

33843251Rating – 5

I didn’t  know what to expect with this book. It just sounds like another Christmas carol book with nothing else happening. I was wrong and I’m so glad I read this book. It is the perfect Christmas book to read every year. I was blown away by the story and over plot twists that happen, I never saw that ending coming. This is one of the most underrated Christmas books and more people need to read it.

  • Dirty Together by Meghan March

27207328Rating – 4

This 3rd book took me by surprise, I wasn’t expecting it to go in the direction it went. The writing paced a bit faster in this one more than the others. These novels were extremely short and easy to get through. The character growth was amazing and overall fantastic to see how Cray grew as a character. I loved how this one wrapped up and included more of their pasts.

  • November 9 by Colleen Hoover

8182bkEoHZLRating – 3

I was so torn on this novel and still am. I want to love it, but at the same time, I want to hate it. The two MC’s both have flaws, but they work through them together. The book was well paced, but I wish it wouldn’t have waited until the last few pages to explain everything and put it all together. I had a few issues with the novel and you can see those once I get my review finished and posted. Overall I did enjoy the story, I was just left wanting more from it.

  • His Outback Nanny by Annie Seaton

Rating – 4

This was a cute small town country type book. The writing was well paced and descriptive. You couldn’t help but fall in love with Jemima and Ned and the three kids. It is my first novel I have read by Annie Seaton and was extremely short for so much story building. This is volume three in the prickle creek series, but all of them can be read by themselves if you want.

These are all the books I read this month. Overall I am happy to have read so many great books. I can’t wait to dig into January’s reads and start on my Beat the Blacklist Challenge. What did you read this month? Any good recommendations?
