Now that I am safely home and settled in, I figured now would be a good time to share some of the really cool presents I got for Christmas. I’ve seen a few people do this and come across as bragging, which I don’t mean to do. I just got some really cool things that, if you have bookish people in your life, they might want for the next gift-giving event.
So, bath bombs don’t really seem like a “bookish” gift, but one of my favorite places to read is in the bath. This started as an “I need to study for a final but also need to relax” when I was in college, and now, its transformed into a whole peaceful experience. I especially like it because its a lot harder for me to reach for my phone while I’m stuck in the tub, and forces me to focus on the book. That being said, I haven’t actually tried any of these yet, but they all smell wonderful.
My wonderful best friend got me a set of candles, which I thought about hunting down and taking a picture of, but they have been scattered around the house already. They all smell wonderful, though Rosaline is by far my favorite (so much so that I might not actually burn it). They are adorable little candles, and another gift that might not seem all that “bookish”. I used to read with candles when my family lived in South Carolina and had an actual reading room. Now, it just helps with relaxing and focusing on the book in hand.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Let me apologize for the picture first; the cover is shimmery, and there is no way to get a decent picture of this book. My sister got this for me this year, which I am ashamed to note I hadn’t actually owned up to this point. I absolutely love Dr. Seuss, mostly from his political cartoons (which if you haven’t seen, totally worth a quick Google search), but his children’s books also have a special place in my heart. I have Grinch everything, and I finally have the book to match!
My Aunt has always been very crafty and she gives wonderful gifts. This year, she hand-made me this beautiful flower. I was worried about it surviving the plane ride home, but we got it home safe and sound. At first, I thought she made it out of my book, which I had mixed feelings about, but she let me know it was made out of recycled books. Aside from the stem and the little gems on it, its made entirely out of a book!
My brother, affectionally called Biggie Smalls, gave me this incredible leather notebook this year. I mean, how cool is this? I feel like Indiana Jones carrying this thing around! I will admit, it’s a little too cool for me, so I haven’t written anything in it yet, but I will eventually. I have a bunch of notebooks, but nothing like this, and I love it.
